Origin: France.

Type: Multi-role fighter.

Design Features: Low-set thin delta wing with cambered section and cleared for 9g and 270/s roll at subsonic and supersonic speeds. Extensive use of composite materials.

Avionics: Mirage 2000s are equipped with a multi-mode RDI pulse Doppler radar which allows multi-target selections at all altitudes with look down/shoot down operation and features HOTAS concepts. It is also fitted with an Antilope terrain-following radar for automatic flight, down to 61 meters.

Engine: One Snecma M53-P20 turbofan rated at 21,384 lbs. of maximum thrust.

Maximum Speed: Mach 2.3

Service Ceiling: 16,460 meters; 54,000 ft.

Maximum Range: With internal fuel - 1852 km; 1151 miles.
With 3000L drop tanks - 3333 km; 2071 miles.

G Limits: +9/-4.5 - normal and +13.5/-9.0 - ultimate.

Armament: Two internally-mounted 30mm guns with 125 rounds of ammunition. Nine external hard points can carry the Super 530D and Magic-II air-to-air missiles and the AS-30L and Matra ARMAT air-to-surface missiles, plus a variety of other guided & un-guided ordnance. The aircraft is also capable of carrying a tactical nuclear payload.

Maximum External Stores Load: 6300 kg; 13,890 lbs.

Self Defence: An automated ICMS Mk.2 with receiver/processor in the nose to detect missile command links; an extra pair of antennae near top of the fin and additional DF antennae scabbed to the existing wingtip pods.

A fourth generation multi-role combat aircraft

In its latest version named Mirage 2000-5 Mk2, the Mirage 2000 is capable of performing the whole array of missions that can be assigned to modern combat aircraft : air defence, air superiority, air-to-ground strike with conventional and precision-guided munitions, long-range strike with stand-off missiles, escort, SEAD (suppression of enemy air defence), elint/recce, maritime strike, close air support and battle area interdiction.

Contrary to older generation aircraft, role change requires only routine ground operations lasting a fraction of an hour, such as fitting appropriate weapons and stores under the fuselage and wings.

Mirage 2000-5 Mk2

The Mirage 2000-5 Mk2 is flexible enough to carry out swing-role missions, i.e. missions involving more than one role during the flight. The swing-role capability hinges among other factors on the possibility of carrying a mix of air-to-air BVR missiles (Beyond Visual Range) and air-to-surface weapons.

With over 600,000 flight hours logged by 8 air forces, the Mirage 2000 is combat proven.

The Mirage 2000-5 Mk2 retains the rugged airframe and the full fly-by-wire control system which have made the reputation of the Mirage 2000. It can be built either as a new aircraft or retrofitted from currently operated Mirage 2000 C’s or 2000 E’s.

The Mirage 2000-5 Mk2 fully qualifies as a 4^th generation fighter, owing to a wealth of new features :

		An integrated mission system with a glass cockpit, digital modular avionics and enhanced communications
		An all-aspect multi-shoot capability with the Mica missile in RF and IR versions and the RDY radar
		Extensive air-to-surface capabilities
		Additional growth potential and programming features to keep ahead of evolving threats
