The Chinese Air Force (PLAAF): Special Section Though a very primitive force, the People's Liberation Army Air Force is one of the largest military air force in the world with over 6,000 military airplanes and nearly one million active personnel. Most of the PLAAF 4,000 plus fighters are J-6 jet fighters, duplicates of the obsolete Russian MiG-19. The massive fleet of J-6s is reaching the end of their operational lives. The new PLAAF is updating this inventory with planned purchases of the advanced Russian made Sukhoi SU-27 FLANKER. However primitive the force may seem, it is definitely suicidal for any other force to counter such a massive force of more than 4000 fighters.
